To Create a New Deck
1. File-->New
2. Click the big green plus sign.
3. Input front and back of first question.
4. Click "Add." You will get a warning that the deck is unsaved.
5. Close the "Add Items" window.
6. File-->Save
7. Choose a filename (e.g. statistics.anki) and save it under My Documents\Anki
To Open a Deck to Add Cards
1. File-->Open
This brings you to the My Documents\Anki folder.
2. Select the deck you want to add to and click "open."
To Browse Deck Cards (look at all cards already in the deck)
1. Click the magnifying glass icon
or
Control-F
or
Edit--> Browse Items...
To Merge Decks
1. Open the deck you want to add another deck into. Create a new deck if you need to, and open that.
2. File -> import
3. select the .anki file you want to import
4. click the import button
5. when it says "importing complete," it should be done.
To Share a Deck
1) export the deck to your hard drive
From the Deck Browser open the deck you want to share.
Go to file-->export
Under "Export Format," select "Packaged Anki Deck (*zip)"
Put in any tags you want to limit it to
2) share the deck with the world
Log into Anki Web at ankiweb.net
Make an account if you need to
Click "More"
Click "Share Decks and Plugins"
Click the highlighted "here." link
There will be a form to fill out:
- Type: "Deck"
- Title: put in the subject matter here and whatever keywords you think people might use to search for it, e.g. "fuzzy logic CGSC 4001 CGSC 5001 Artificial Intelligence for Cognitive Science"
- Select the zip file (it will be called shared something)
- Tags: put in tags with intercap (e.g., cognitiveScience CGSC4001)
- Put in a description, and click upload. That's it!
How to Email a Deck To Turn It In As An Assignment
1. Make the cards and save the deck. Make sure the name of the deck reflects your topic.
2. Quit Anki.
3. Compose an email to jim@jimdavies.org
subject line: CGSC 2002 LASTNAME Anki TOPIC
where LASTNAME is your last name, and TOPIC is the name of the lecture.
4. Attach the .anki file
Navigate to your documents folder:Anki
and you should see it there.
