Page history last edited by Spencer Eckler 3 years, 3 months ago

Prepare the Discord server for the new semester

1. Remove all members (except yourself & Prof. Davies)

1a. Make an announcement indicating all members will be removed in a 24 hour window

1b. Go to Sever Settings > Members and begin to kick all members

2. Clear all message history in all channels, except #welcome-and-rules

3. Post an invitation (with a Discord invite link) to all students over CGSC 1001 cuLearn Announcements in a new thread.

3a. To make a Discord invite link, float your mouse above #welcome-and-rules and the 'Create Invite' symbol should appear beside the gearwheel (Edit Channel).

     3b. Sample invitation message:

4. Verify all members to complete their Discord server access

4a. Edit the message in #welcome-and-rules to include your email address so students can request account verification.
4b. Create a spreadsheet (Excel or otherwise) with student emails and associated Discord accounts.

Running the Discord server

I recommend installing the Discord app on your phone and computer, to ensure you have consistent access. This is a precaution in case you need to do anything on short notice.
